Februrary 7, 2013

Today we celebrate:

Ballet Day – I cannot find any information on the web about this day, but who needs a good reason to dance? Throw on a tutu, slap on some slippers and off you go!

“e” Day – This is a math thing. Basically, “e” is used to represent a number, 2.7182818, discovered and named “e” by Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler around 1727. If you're curious to know more, this is a good website: http://www.timeanddate.com/date/e-day.html

Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – There are HIV/AIDS awareness days sprinkled around throughout the year. It's a devastating disease that affects the entire world. Make sure you know how to keep yourself safe. http://aids.gov/news-and-events/awareness-days/

Wave All Your Fingers At Your Neighbor's Day – Put aside your differences with your neighbors today and instead of saluting them with one finger, be a little friendlier and use all of them. After all, a friendly relationship has to start somewhere. Let it start with you.

National Fettuccine Alfredo Day – Once again, I have solved your “What to have for lunch?” dilemma. You are welcome.

Send A Card To A Friend Day – You don't need a special reason to let a friend know that you're thinking about them. Put a card in the mail today, your friends just might need a reminder that they have friends and there is no time like the present.

To celebrate today, find a card to send to a friend and get that in the mailbox right away, making sure you wave to your neighbors on the way to the mailbox. Then, have an impromptu ballet practice and recital with your children. (They won't care if you look goofy unless they are teenagers. If that's the case, make sure you further embarrass them by taking pictures.) Then, take a break and attempt to explain the whole “e” constant concept to your children. If that goes well, you're doing better than me. Finally, have some fettuccine alfredo for lunch and take a minute to pray for those who are suffering from HIV/AIDS and their families. If you are so moved, find a charity that helps with these issues and find out if there is anything you can do to help.
