April 15, 2013

Today we celebrate:

Take A Wild Guess Day – This is a day for making guesses, following your gut, trusting your intuition. Go ahead and try it!

National Glazed Ham Day – Make sure you have enough time to bake one of these today because this is dinner.

Boston Marathon – I adore exercise in most forms but despise running. I won't even run to the mailbox. So I have great respect for people who are fit enough to run a marathon. You have to train a long time to get ready for one of those. Good luck to all the participants today.

Rubber Eraser Day – This is a day for people who are prone to making mistakes. Where would we be without erasers to help us fix them?

Income Tax Pay Day – All right American people, if you haven't filed your taxes yet, today is the last day to do so. Get busy with it so you can avoid penalties.

Titanic Remembrance Day – Today we remember the victims of the Titanic which struck an iceberg on April 14th at 11:40pm and sank on the 15th in the year 1912.

That Sucks Day – I'm not a fan of bad language and I contemplated changing the name to That Stinks Day, but then I would be giving you false information so I'm bearing with it in the spirit of the day. This is a day for wallowing in misery and not seeing the good in anything. This is not a state of being that I am comfortable with, I prefer to be positive, but I guess that will have to wait until tomorrow. It is a bit ironic that this day falls on the same day as Titanic Remembrance Day.

McDonald's Day – On this day in 1955, the first McDonald's franchise opened in Des Plaines, Illinois. While it is not known as the healthiest place to eat, if you want to eat healthy you can choose to do so and have one of their salads, which are not bad.

Patriot's Day – Always on the third Monday of April, this day commemorates the Battles of Lexington and Concord, which were the first battles of the Revolutionary War. Re-enactments are performed in Lexington and Concord on this day every year.

To celebrate today head to Boston to either run in the marathon or cheer on those who are running, then have some lunch at McDonald's before you head to Lexington to participate in the re-enactment going on there. If you don't know how to get there, just take a wild guess, you'll get there eventually. If you get lost, well that stinks for you. After that, head to Mystic Connecticut to the Aquarium because they have a great Titanic exhibit. Finally, head home to finish doing your taxes so you can get them to the Post Office by midnight. Make sure that if you write them out on paper, use a pencil first so you can erase all of your mistakes.
