Today we celebrate:

National Peanut Butter And Jelly Day – My daughter's favorite lunch meal, peanut butter and mint jelly sandwiches. And yes, much to my husband's disgust, I am serious about the mint jelly. It's my favorite too!  I didn't take a picture of it because I didn't want anyone else to gag, so this is a picture of a normal peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

International Children's Book Day – Sponsored by the International Board On Books For Young People, this day is celebrated with writing contests and author events. This day was chosen because it is Hans Christian Andersen's birthday.

Reconciliation Day – Begun by Ann Landers, the late advice columnist, today is a day for mending relationships. Take the first step and reach out in friendship. You never know where that might take you.

World Autism Awareness Day – This is a day to raise awareness of the increasing prevalence of autism. Autism organizations have been celebrating this day for 6 years with fundraising for research and treatments as well as awareness events.

National Love Your Produce Manager Day – I think most of us could use more fresh produce in our diets. A great produce manager is vital if you want your grocery store to stock the best and freshest produce possible.

To celebrate today, challenge your children to write a children's book. Then, when they fight over whose pencil is sharper, encourage them to reconcile their differences by breaking the points on both of them.  For lunch you can all have peanut butter and jelly sandwichs before heading to the grocery store to thank your Produce Manager for his/her hard work. Finally, finish up the day by learning about the issues associated with Autism and the difficulties and challenges in treating it in the hopes of one day finding a cure.
