Today we celebrate:

National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day – According to the chocolate experts, almonds pair well with milk chocolate because this kind of chocolate has less chocolate liquor than other chocolates and is therefore a lighter taste. I don't know about that, and I don't particularly like any kind of nuts in my chocolate, but I also know that I am in the minority in this regard.

Math 2.0 Day – Did you know there was a Math 2.0 community? I didn't either but there is and it was founded on this day in 2009 (I believe, but I could be wrong about that year). This day is celebrated by playing with math software in virtual math communities.

SCUD Day (Savor The Comic, Unplug The Drama) – This is a day that is about enjoying comics and spending less time with drama. It was created by Stephanie West Allen somewhere around 2007. The idea is basically to relax and laugh about life instead of focusing on the drama that life inevitably brings along.

International Town Criers Day – This day is celebrated on the second Monday in July. Town crying is an old tradition. There are not too many of them around anymore in this day of instant connections. A town crier is an officer of the court who makes public announcements for the court. In the old days( 18th century), they had a dress code of a red and gold robe, white breeches, black boots and a tricorne hat. They would ring a bell and shout, “Oyez, Oyez, Oyez” (which means “hear ye”) and then when they had everyone's attention, they would announce the important news of the court. We don't use this method anymore, I think most courts publish information in the newspaper. However, their job was very important in their day and they deserve recognition.

Video Games Day – This is a somewhat redundant day, fans of video gaming are probably going to pursue that activity today no matter what day it is and those who are not fans of this type of activity are not going to engage in it even if it is a special day. I could not determine why this is celebrated today, but to fans, it really doesn't matter.

To celebrate today, start out by reading the comics in the newspaper and playing some virtual math games. Then tell the kids what town criers used to do in every town. Then you can spend the rest of the day eating milk chocolate with almonds and playing video games.
