Today we celebrate:

Raspberries 'n Cream Day – Raspberries mixed with cream. Light, summery and delicious.

National Lighthouse Day – On this day in 1789, Congress approved an Act that established lighthouses, beacons, buoys and public piers. Two hundred years later, Congress established National Lighthouse Day to celebrate these structures that are still used today and allow our waters to be safely navigated.

Particularly Preposterous Packaging Day –
This is another wellcat.com created holiday that celebrates the packages that we purchase that are impossible to open. Have you opened a milk carton lately? How about a CD? It's almost like these companies want your money but want to make sure you don't get to enjoy their merchandise.

Professional Speakers Day –
This is a day to celebrate the professionals who use their public speaking skills to help people. Not everyone is comfortable talking in front of large groups of people. So those who are and are very good at it can accomplish a great deal for a good cause.

Purple Heart Day
– A few days ago we had Purple Heart Appreciation Day.  This day is different but you are not allowed to ask me why because I don't know.  Governor Jim Gibbons of Nevada proclaimed this day in 2009 to honor the sacrifices of our men and women in the armed forces who have put their lives on the line to keep us safe. Other states may have followed suit, look and see if your state has a similar day.

To celebrate today, buy a microphone and speakers, see if you can get them out of their packaging without hurting yourself and take them to the nearest lighthouse where you can give a speech to the tourists there about how the Purple Heart came to be and how deserving recipients of that honor are. Then relax over some raspberries and cream.
