Today we celebrate:

National Girls & Women In Sports Day – Women are still often discriminated against in sports. Many people feel that sports played by women are not really sports worthy of watching. This is a day to fight against discrimination in the sporting world and focus on the benefits that girls receive from participating in sports.  https://www.womenssportsfoundation.org/en/home/advocate/ngwsd

National Weatherperson's Day – This day recognizes the contributions of meteorologists all over the country, along with volunteer storm spotters and observers, who work hard to make sure we are not caught unawares when bad weather strikes. My favorite weatherperson for the Hudson Valley in New York is Alex at http://www.hudsonvalleyweather.com/ . I don't know how he does it but he is more accurate than any weatherperson on the news that I've ever seen.

Digital Learning Day – This is a day that is all about giving children an opportunity to excel in college and their future careers by using technology in schools. Learning in a digital environment improves the quality of education for all students. http://www.digitallearningday.org/splash

Western Monarch Day – Established by the California state legislature in 2004, this day celebrates the return of the Monarch butterfly to the central coast of California to spend the winter.

World Nutella Day – This is a day to have some of this delicious chocolate and hazelnut spread, you can put this stuff on almost anything and it will taste good. http://www.nutelladay.com/

National Chocolate Fondue Day – Almost everyone loves chocolate covered food of all kinds. I know this because I conducted a poll in my house. Get out that fondue pot you know you've got stashed somewhere and make some fondue to dip your food in today.

To celebrate today, use your digital resources to learn about the positive benefits of playing sports for the women in your life. Then contact your favorite weatherperson and thank them for their hard work. Next, make some fondue and dip your nutella covered crackers into it while you watch for Monarch butterflies in your backyard.
