September 14, 2014

Today we celebrate just a couple of things to make up for the busy, busy day we had yesterday:

National Hug Your Hound Day – Celebrated on the second Sunday of September, this is a day to increase awareness of the use of urban spaces to create nature, human and dog friendly environments. In other words, big cities need places for humans and dogs to commune with nature.

National Cream-Filled Doughnut Day – This is my favorite kind of doughnut and since I drive by Dunkin' Donuts every day, I guess today I'll have to stop in and get some for the family.

National Anthem Day - On this day in 1814, the Star Spangled Banner was written by  Francis Scott Key after he watched the British bombard Fort McHenry during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.

To celebrate today, sing the Star Spangled Banner and have a cream-filled doughnut every time you hug a dog today.
