Today we celebrate:

National Punch Day – I usually only have punch at parties, but there's no need to wait for one of those to come along. Make some punch to have today and if you make a lot, share with whoever you can find.

International Eat An Apple Day – Celebrated on the third Saturday in September, this is a day to celebrate the beginning of fall by eating an apple, the most popular fruit of the season.

International Coastal Cleanup Day – This is a day that is also celebrated on the third Saturday in September. We honor the day by reducing the amount of trash we throw out and by cleaning up the trash lining our coasts. We need to keep our oceans clean.

Boys' and Girls' Club Day for Kids – Boys and Girls Clubs all over America are celebrating this Day for Kids in a variety of ways. Check with your local club today to see what they have planned.

Big Whopper Liar Day – Celebrated on the third Saturday in September, this is a day to lie and lie big. Little fibs will just not do today, you need to come up with some big whoppers.  Just be careful where and how and to whom you lie.  If you have an encounter with police today, I would advise abstaining from celebrating this day until you are home.

Responsible Dog Ownership Day - This day was created by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and promotes responsible dog ownership.  It isn’t easy to take care of a creature that is dependent on you for so much but if you are going to own a dog, you must be responsible for it.  Believe me, the love you get back makes it totally worth it.

National Gibberish Day - This is an odd day that seems to be all about speaking nonsense.  I don’t know who created it or why but it is all about making up your own words and don’t worry about whether they make sense or whether anyone understands you.

To celebrate everything in one day, pack some apples and punch, the kids and your dog and head to the coast to clean up the mess that washes in with the tide.  While you are there, tell your kids big whoppers about your life as a child and all the oceans you had to clean up all by yourself and then start talking gibberish to see if they notice, which they probably won’t because they stopped listening three hours ago.
