Today we celebrate:

National Mincemeat Day – Mincemeat used to feature actual meat, but these days it is mostly made up of a variety of brandied fruits and only occasionally a little beef. My husband loves mincemeat pie, it's one of his favorites.

Mother-in-Law Day – Celebrated on the fourth Sunday in October, this is a day to celebrate your Mother-in-Law. Mother-in-Law's are the ones who raised your spouse, the one special person in your life that you choose to be a part of your family. Honor the one who raised that special person by taking her out to dinner or giving her some flowers.

Reformation Sunday – Celebrated on the Sunday on or before October 31st, this is a day to remember the Reformation. This day is typically celebrated by Lutheran and some Reformed churches because it honors Martin Luther in particular.

Day of the Deployed – This day has been celebrated every year on this day since 2006. It is a day for us to have the opportunity to honor the brave men and women who put their lives at risk every day to protect our country. They sacrifice everything for us when they leave their families behind and put their lives in danger for us. Please take the opportunity today to thank everyone you can who has served our country in the military.

To celebrate today, invite your mother-in-law to join you for church to remember the Reformation.  Then, make a mincemeat pie to share with everyone in your neighborhood who has ever deployed to protect our country.
