Today we celebrate:

Earth At Aphelion – On this day at 7:41 pm (Universal Time) we are at the farthest point from the sun that we ever go. The earth's orbit around the sun is not a circle, it is more elliptical which means that we are not exactly the same distance from the sun from day to day. Oddly enough, the earth is warmer at this point than it is at perihelion when we are the closest to the sun.  Although I’m not sure if the southern hemisphere would agree.

Take Your Webmaster To Lunch Day - Today is a day to honor the webmasters who keep us up and running on the internet.  They create our web pages and manage our internet presence and without them, the internet would be a boring place to go.  If you don’t have a webmaster, feel free to take someone else’s out to lunch.

National Fried Chicken Day – I guess it makes sense that this day would fall on the heels of yesterday's Chicken Wing Day. In my opinion, there really is no better tasting way to have chicken.

International Kissing Day or World Kiss Day – This is a day to celebrate, and practice, the kiss. Kisses can be used to express love, friendship, greetings, respect, good luck and more. Different kisses are appropriate for the many different relationships in your life. Kiss everyone you care about today in a manner that is appropriate for the relationship.

To celebrate today, find your webmaster and give him/her a kiss and a leg of fried chicken to celebrate our proximity to the sun.
