Today we celebrate:

National Grand Marnier Day - This is a beverage that was created by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle back in the 1880s. It is a kind of cognac and is used in many drinks and dishes such as roasted duck, Crepes Suzette, Cosmopolitans, and Margaritas to name just a few.

National Tape Measure Day - Tape Measures are used to measure things. I’m sure that doesn’t come as a particularly big surprise. The surprising thing is that it is apparently worthy of a special day. Now don’t get me wrong. I know that tape measures are very useful things, probably very few things could be built without them. But who decided that an inanimate object like this  needed a day?

Shark Awareness Day - Sharks get a really bad rap. They strike fear into the hearts of almost everyone because of movies and news stories depicting them as killers. Now, I’m not saying they are cuddly teddy bears, but they don’t attack people nearly as often as we all think they do. So this is a day to learn more about sharks so we won’t be so afraid of them.

Bastille Day – Also known as French National Day or La Fete Nationale which commemorates the day of the storming of the Bastille on this day in 1789. The Bastille was an old prison fortress and its downfall was a symbol of the coming of the modern French nation.

Pandemonium Day – Today is your day to get a little crazy! There are only two guidelines that you MUST follow on a day like this. One – your craziness must be FUN and not mean or hurtful to anyone or anything. Two – your craziness must be LEGAL!! I know, I just ruined it for you, didn't I? Well, I'm sure you can manage to get crazy anyway.
