Today we celebrate:

True Love Forever Day - This is a day to express your true feelings for someone, preferably someone you love in a forever kind of way. You can go big or small with your expressions of love, it all depends on what kind of people you and your loved ones are. Something elaborate would only serve to embarrass me because I’m a person who is not comfortable in the spotlight, but some people thrive on that kind of thing.

National Roller Coaster Day - Roller coasters made out of wood were patented in 1885 and have been enjoyed by adults and children ever since. The bigger the better, it seems. They even have roller coasters that go upside down now, which you won’t ever find me on. I don’t do upside down, but there are an incredible number of people who just love it.

National Bratwurst Day - This is a German sausage that has been around since the 14th century. If you’re a fan of German food, indulge yourself today.

National Airborne Day – This is a day created by George W. Bush in 2001 and approved by the United States Congress. The purpose of today is to honor our nation's airborne branch of the Armed Forces. Airborne fighting tactics have been very important to the success of innumerable battles during every war since it's creation right after World War I.

Joe Miller's Joke Day – This is a day to tell a joke in celebration of Joseph Miller, an English comic actor born sometime in the year 1684. He died on this day in 1738. During his life, he was a popular actor at the Drury Lane Theatre in London. I know you have all been saving up your jokes all year long for just this occasion so let’s hear some good ones! Here’s one to start you off: Q: Why did the insomniac man get arrested? A: He resisted a rest.

National Rum Day – All of my children love watching Pirates of the Caribbean. If you have seen any of those movies, you know that Captain Jack Sparrow loves rum but frequently finds that somehow it is mysteriously missing. If you enjoy drinking it too, and you are 21 years of age or older, this is a day for you. Hopefully you won’t find yourself in the Captain’s predicament of wondering, “Why is the rum always gone?”
