Today we celebrate:

Feline Stomatitis Awareness Day - Created by Edward D. Alexander from the Cats Calendar Club Facebook Group, this is a day to wear red to spread awareness of this very painful issue for felines. It’s official name is Feline Chronic Gingivostomatitis (FGS) and it causes a cat’s mouth to become inflamed and painful. We need to spread the news about this issue so that hopefully progress will be made on finding a cure or at least better treatments for our beloved feline family members.

National Spumoni Day – Spumoni is Italian ice cream that is made with layers of different colors and flavors. It frequently has nuts and/or candied fruits mixed in as well. I've never tried it, but I'm certainly willing if I could just find a place that serves it.

Poet's Day – This is a day to honor your favorite poets. A talented poet can express powerful emotions with words and make the rest of us cry, laugh, or really think about a subject in a new way.  We all have a bit of a poet inside us, so today is a day to either bring out your inner poet, or enjoy some poetry created by others.

Senior Citizen's Day – This is a day to honor the seniors of our society. This day was created in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan who was attempting to change the way we look at our elders. We need to remember that our elders have a great deal of life experience and wisdom that we can benefit from if we only open up our minds and hearts and recognize that they are still contributing members of society.

God's Preeminence Day – Celebrated on the third Sunday of August, this is a day for believers to pay tribute to God. Pray, meditate about God, and give all glory to God today.
