National Peach Cobbler Day – I miss the peach tree we had in our yard when we lived in Texas because the peaches I buy in the store just don’t measure up. But, I’ll give them another try today anyway because peach cobbler is just so delicious.
Scrabble Day – Born on this day in 1899, Alfred Moser Butts went on to invent Scrabble in 1938. If you live in a city that sponsors a Scrabble tournament at some point around this day, you can play scrabble all day long. If not, start your own scrabble tournament with your neighborhood kids.
Thomas Jefferson Day – This father of our country was born on this day in 1743. He was the author of our Declaration of Independence, the third President of our United States, and the founder of the University of Virginia. During his presidency, he purchased the Louisiana Territory in 1803.
Maundy Thursday - Celebrated on the Thursday before Easter, this is a Christian holy day that remembers the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with his disciples.
Support Teen Literature Day – Always on the Thursday of National Library Week, this is a day to celebrate the amazing quality and variety of literature available for teens today. There is so much more out there for this age group than there was when I was a kid. I am envious and find I enjoy reading it just as much as my teens do.
