Today we celebrate:

Umbrella Cover Day - When  you buy a new umbrella, it usually comes inside a little sleeve of some kind that is either clear plastic, or made out of the same material as your umbrella. There is apparently some debate over whether they are necessary, desirable, or a waste of material and an impediment to rapid deployment of the umbrella in the event of a sudden rainstorm. There is actually a Guinness World Record for the largest collection of umbrella sleeves (730 as of 2012) owned by Nancy Hoffman, as well as a Umbrella Cover Museum owned and operated by Nancy Hoffman. That last part was probably not a huge surprise.

National Air Traffic Control Day - On this day in 1936, an air traffic control system was created. They could see that there were enough planes in the air back then to warrant a group that could keep an eye on them and help them avoid accidents and keep them moving efficiently at airports. A special day to honor these hardworking and very stressed out people was created on this day in 1986 with a proclamation from President Ronald Reagan.

Take Your Webmaster To Lunch Day - Today is a day to honor the webmasters who keep us up and running on the internet. They create our web pages and manage our internet presence and without them, the internet would be a boring place to go. If you don’t have a webmaster, feel free to take someone else’s out to lunch.

National Fried Chicken Day – I guess it makes sense that this day would fall on the heels of yesterday's Chicken Wing Day. In my opinion, there really is no better tasting way to have chicken.

International Kissing Day or World Kiss Day – This is a day to celebrate, and practice, the kiss. Kisses can be used to express love, friendship, greetings, respect, good luck and more. Different kisses are appropriate for the many different relationships in your life. Kiss everyone you care about today in a manner that is appropriate for the relationship.
