Hug
Your Boss Day – Generally
celebrated on the third Friday of August, although some say it is to
be celebrated on August 21st.
This is a day to increase motivation and morale by loosening up a
little and giving your boss a hug. Unless you think that it would
not be welcome, in which case, don't do anything to jeopardize your
job.
National
Airborne Day – This is a day created by George W. Bush in 2001
and approved by the United States Congress. The purpose of today is
to honor our nation's airborne branch of the Armed Forces. Airborne
fighting tactics have been very important to the success of
innumerable battles during every war since it's creation right after
World War I.
Joe
Miller's Joke Day – This
is a day to tell a joke in celebration of Joseph Miller, an English
comic actor born sometime in the year 1684. He died on this day in
1738. During his life, he was a popular actor at the Drury Lane
Theatre in London.
National
Rum Day – It's
kind of appropriate that my oldest daughter is watching Pirates
of the Caribbean
as I write this since Captain Jack Sparrow loves rum so much. If you
enjoy drinking it too, and you are 21 years of age or older, this is
a day for you.
Men's Grooming Day – Celebrated on the third Friday in August, this is a day that was created by American Crew, a company that makes men's grooming products. Some barbershops and salons participate in this day with special grooming related events for men.
To
celebrate today, salute any airborne planes you see flying overhead
today. If you see any planes flying overhead that are not airborne,
run for your life. When you get to work, give your boss a hug to
start the day off on a positive note. Then at lunch go to a
barbershop for a grooming. At dinner tonight, toast Joe Miller with
a rum drink and tell the family a joke.
