National Candy Day – Funny how this comes so soon after Halloween. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that most people still have lots of candy left over.
Fill Our Staplers Day – This is a day to go and fill your stapler with staples so you're ready the next time you need to use it. You never think to do that until you run out at just the wrong time. So on this day, which is the day after Daylight Savings Time ends, and in March on the day after Daylight Savings Time begins, go and check the stapler.
Job Action Day – Celebrated on the first Monday in November, this is a day for job and career search experts to join together to help current and former military people transition to civilian careers.
National Chicken Lady Day – The Chicken Lady is Dr. M. Tina Dupree who works to train and certify professional speakers and authors. I haven't been able to determine why she is called The Chicken Lady, only that it is an endearment, not an insult.
Use Your Common Sense Day – Created by Bud Bilanich, this is a day that encourages us to use applied common sense. Mr. Bilanich says that most people have common sense and know what to do in most situations, they just don't actually listen to their common sense. This is a day to listen and apply what our senses tell us in business and in life. Mr. Bilanich chose this day because it is Will Rogers' birthday. You may remember that Mr. Rogers once said, “common sense ain't all that common.”
King
Tut Day – On this day in 1922, Howard Carter and his team of
archeologists found the entrance to King Tutankhamen's tomb in Egypt.
It took many years to excavate the whole thing and find all of the
gold treasure that had been buried with the King who was only 19
years old when he died.
To
celebrate today, work on using your common sense in all things you do
today. Start out the day by filling your staplers, go to a job
action meeting to get some job search advice, then go see the Chicken
Lady to get some public speaking advice. Next, go see King Tut's
traveling exhibit wherever it may be today. That might require some
traveling on your part as well depending on where the exhibit might
be.
