Rhino Mayday - This year’s event will be held at the Chester Zoo, located somewhere in the United Kingdom. This is one of many events throughout the year dedicated to saving the Black Rhino, whose numbers are seriously dwindling.
National Fudge Day – My grandmother used to make fudge every year. Now, I'm not a big fan of fudge, but it was pretty good. There are plenty of people who do love it so this is a good day for you if you are one of them.
Bloomsday – This day celebrates the life of James Joyce, an Irish author who wrote a novel, Ulysses, which is set on this day in 1904. Mr. Joyce chose this particular day for his novel because it was the date of his first date with his future wife, Nora Barnacle. Dubliners celebrate this day with readings from the book, or by dressing as characters in the book.

Ride To Work Day – Celebrate today by riding your motorcycle or scooter to work. The idea is to show everyone how much better their lives would be if they rode motorcycles and scooters every day by reducing congestion, saving time (because of being able to travel faster due to the reduced congestion, not a miraculously shorter commuting distance or the illegal and dangerous practice of weaving in and around other vehicles.) and reducing travel costs. This day has been celebrated for the last 24 years.
Ladies Day (Baseball) – On this day in 1883, the New York Giants hosted the very first Ladies' Day baseball game. Revolutionary for it's time, the Giants allowed both escorted and unescorted ladies to watch the game for free. Just to hazard a guess, I would think that most ladies didn't need to work too hard to find someone willing to escort them to a baseball game.
To celebrate today, talk to your children about the efforts to save the rhinos before you read a passage of Ulysses by James Joyce to them. Then eat some fudge before you ride your scooter to work. After work, take your scooter to a baseball game for Ladies Day and then home for some fresh veggies for dinner.
