International Lefthander's Day – Created by Lefthanders International and first celebrated on this day in 1976, this is a day to spread awareness of the difficulties left-handers face in a mostly right-handed world. My son is left-handed so I'm a little more aware of those issues now than I was as a right-handed kid growing up in a right-handed family. Most tools are made for right-handers and even sitting at a table for a meal can be an issue when you start bumping elbows.
National Filet Mignon Day – Cooked well, filet mignon is tender and juicy and delicious. Obviously, being a beef dish, this is not a good celebration day for vegetarians. Well, cheer up, tomorrow will be a better day!
To celebrate today, have a filet mignon and switch your knife and fork to eat like a left-handed person would. That will be easy if you are left-handed. Not so much if you are not.
