Today we celebrate:

National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day – This is a new one for me. I didn't know you could make chocolate pecan pie. I bet it's pretty good but probably too sweet for me.

National Lemonade Day – This day is all about teaching young people how to begin and operate their own business of selling lemonade from a lemonade stand. They will learn a lot about business doing something like that especially if they have a good mentor to give them tips.  I’ll give all you kids who are planning on doing this a quick, free tip.  Don’t put a lemonade stand on my road.  You’ll go broke before lunchtime.

National Radio Day – This day celebrates the invention of the radio. Many people contributed to the various evolutions that the radio has gone through over the years. The first transmission of a signal using electromagnetic waves happened around 1880. The technology just kept getting better from there.

Kick A Ginger Day - This day comes from the TV show called South Park.  This is not a show that I have ever wanted to watch so I can’t relate to you the episode this day comes from, you’ll have to read about it the same place I did. The basic message of the episode is about hate and discrimination for no reason.  So the real goal is not to actually kick gingers, but to recognize ridiculous discrimination when you see it.

World Mosquito Day - This is not a day to celebrate mosquitoes so don’t worry about my sanity.  It is, however, a day to celebrate Sir Ronald Ross, the doctor who discovered, in 1897, that female mosquitoes transmitted malaria between humans.  He declared this day shortly afterward and it has been celebrated by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine since the 1930s with parties and exhibitions.

To celebrate today, wear bug spray to ward off the female mosquitos and share some chocolate pecan pie and lemonade with the redheads(gingers) in the neighborhood while you introduce all of them to your favorite radio station.
