Today we celebrate:

National Linguine Day - A long, flat and narrow pasta, it’s not my favorite but maybe that has more to do with the sauce it’s in because this is the pasta that is used most of the time for fettuccine alfredo and I prefer a good old homemade spaghetti sauce.

Someday - You know when you think of something that needs to be done and you think that you’ll get to it “someday”? Well, today is Someday, and it’s time to follow through. Stop procrastinating, people!

National Thank You Day - This is a day to show appreciation to everyone who has made any kind of positive impact in your life. Show the people who love you that you are thankful for everything they do for you in the best way possible….tell them.

National Caregivers Day - This is a day to give support to someone who is a caregiver for someone else.  Call them up to see what they need. Maybe you can take over their responsibilities for a while so they can have a break, or maybe you can fix them a meal so they can have a more relaxing evening. Everyone’s needs are different so see what you can do to help.

Felt Hat Day – There was a time when anyone who was anyone had a felt hat. They are not so easy to find these days so if you find one, wear it today.

Make A Hat Day – This is a day to make your own hat of your own special design. The only catch is...after you make it, you have to wear it.

National Creme de Menthe Day – A sweet, minty alcoholic beverage. I’m not fond of it myself, but there are a lot of people who are so all of them should definitely enjoy one today.

Google.com Day – On this day in 1997, Google registered it's domain name. And the rest is history.

Greenpeace Day – Founded on this day in 1971, Greenpeace has become the largest, independent environmental organization in the world. It was begun in Vancouver but has spread to 2.9 million members in over 41 countries.

International Day of Democracy – Created by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007, today we work to uphold the principles of democracy and to spread awareness of the benefits of a government and culture based on the will of the people. There are a lot of countries in the world with millions of people who have no say in who runs the government and they are at the mercy of those who rule over them. I’m not saying that democracies are perfect. Heaven knows we have plenty of problems, but at least if the problems get too bad, we have a chance of banding together and voting the people responsible out of office.

International Dot DayThis is a day to connect the dots. The dots are people and we need to connect people all over the world to involve each of us in creative and celebratory activities designed to make the world a better place.
