Today we celebrate:

National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day – Oatmeal is healthy, isn't it? That's what I tell myself anyway as I'm munching on these delicious cookies. We really don’t need to think about all the sugar involved.

Goddess Of Fertility Day – Celebrated before the Spring Equinox, this is a day for women who wish to conceive a baby to plead their case to Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love and fertility, by giving her offerings. I'm not too sure what she would find acceptable in the way of an offering, so don't ask me. If you are inclined to give this a try, make it a big offering because this hasn’t really been done regularly in hundreds of years, so she is sure to be hungry.

Biodiesel Day – Born on this day in 1858, Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine. He planned to use vegetable oil to fuel his engine and did a lot of work in the biofuel arena. In fact, when he demonstrated his diesel engine at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1900, he ran it on peanut oil.
Supreme Sacrifice Day – This is a day that honors those who have made great sacrifices for others, maybe even for you. There have been many in our lifetime, many more if you go back further in time. Soldiers, firemen and women, policemen and women, neighbors and friends and even total strangers. Some you cannot find today because their sacrifice involved giving up their lives. But we can remember and honor all of them and live good lives to make sure that their sacrifices on our behalf were not in vain.

Maple Syrup Saturday - A little bit of heaven in a bottle, pure maple syrup is really nothing but sugar and tree sap from maples trees. Anything but pure will probably have additives, various coloring chemicals, preservatives and who knows what else. This day is celebrated on the third Saturday in March.

Forgive Mom And Dad Day – This is a day for everyone to realize that children do not come with instruction manuals and we all make mistakes. As parents, all any of us can do is make the best decisions we can with the information we have available to us. For example, if your parents smoked in the house when you were a kid, before the effects of secondhand smoke were known to cause health problems with kids, forgive them because they probably would never have done it if they knew it would hurt you.

Awkward Moments Day – We've all had at least one awkward moment in our lives, I have had far too many to count. Celebrate them today and maybe laugh at yourself a little now that you've had some time to get over the embarrassment. It's time to acknowledge the humor in the situation.

International Sports Car Racing Day – This is a day where you will find car racing events all over the world. I couldn't find out much information about it.  All my searches just turned up a whole lot of information on races happening on this day which is always on the third Saturday in March.

Worldwide Quilting Day - Celebrated on the third Saturday in March, this is a day for quilters to celebrate the quilting that they love to do. You can probably find some celebratory activities or sales at your local quilting store. Consider introducing your children or grandchildren this craft so that the skills don’t become lost.

National Corn Dog Day – Celebrated in March on the first Saturday of the NCAA Men's Div. Basketball Championship, this day was begun in 1992 by Brady Sahnow and Henry Otley, in order to celebrate the combination of corn dogs, basketball, tater tots and beer.
