Today we celebrate:

Be A Kid Again Day - Being an adult is not all it’s cracked up to be. When you’re a kid you think it would be great to be an adult as soon as possible so you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. But once you get to adulthood, you realize that you still can’t do whatever you want, whenever you want because you have bills and responsibilities hounding you all the time. So just for today, chuck it all and be a kid again.

National Milk Chocolate with Almonds Day – According to the chocolate experts, almonds pair well with milk chocolate because this kind of chocolate has less chocolate liquor than other chocolates and is therefore a lighter taste. I don't know about that, and I don't particularly like any kind of nuts in my chocolate, but I also know that I am in the minority in this regard.

Math 2.0 Day – Did you know there was a Math 2.0 community? I didn't either but there is and it was founded on this day in 2009 (I believe, but I could be wrong about that year). This day is celebrated by playing with math software in virtual math communities.

SCUD Day (Savor The Comic, Unplug The Drama) – This is a day that is about enjoying comics and spending less time with drama. It was created by Stephanie West Allen somewhere around 2007. The idea is basically to relax and laugh about life instead of focusing on the drama that life inevitably brings along.

Don’t Put All Your Eggs In One Omelet Day - There is disagreement regarding whether this day is celebrated on the 8th or on the 9th of July. I couldn’t find an authority to explain the reasoning behind the day but it’s probably good advice anyway since you never know when you are going to have a sudden urge to bake something that would require an egg and you would then be sad if you had used all of your eggs for your omelet this morning. I’m pretty sure there is some other wisdom behind this like not spending all your money on one thing, but the egg idea is much more interesting.

Video Games Day – This is a somewhat redundant day because fans of video gaming are probably going to pursue that activity today no matter what day it is, and those who are not fans of this type of activity are not going to engage in it even if it is a special day. I could not determine why this is celebrated today, but to fans, it really doesn't matter.

National Ice Cream Sundae Day - The first Ice Cream Sundae was served in Two Rivers Wisconsin way back in 1881, although there are other cities who lay claim to the title of the Originator of the Ice Cream Sundae. I’m not sure if it was first served on this day in that year, but regardless, it is celebrated on this day every year now.

Wayne Chicken Day - Celebrated on the second Saturday in July, this is a special event held in Wayne, Nebraska. It was founded by the Wayne Regional Arts Council in 1981, and is run by the Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce.
