Today we celebrate:

International Lefthander's Day – Created by Lefthanders International and first celebrated on this day in 1976, this is a day to spread awareness of the difficulties left-handers face in a mostly right-handed world. My son is left-handed so I'm a little more aware of those issues now than I was as a right-handed kid growing up in a right-handed family. Most tools are made for right-handers and even sitting at a table for a meal can be an issue when you start bumping elbows.

National Filet Mignon Day – Cooked well, filet mignon is tender and juicy and delicious. Obviously, being a beef dish, this is not a good celebration day for vegetarians.  Well, cheer up, tomorrow will be a better day!

National Spirit of '45 Day – Created in 2010 by the United States Congress to be celebrated on the second Sunday in August, this is a day to honor the “ordinary heroes” of World War II. The people who suffered through the Great Depression, sacrificed for the war effort, and worked to rebuild the economies of the United States and the countries devastated by World War II.
