Today we celebrate:

Rosh Hashanah – This is the Jewish New Year. It begins today at sundown and ends at sundown on September 22nd. Happy New Year everyone!

National String Cheese Day - My children, even at their advanced teenaged years, love string cheese. And I get it. It’s a great snack. Packaged for easy transport and full of protein, they are much easier to eat than cutting into a block of cheese. So get your kids some string cheese today. Trust me, there are a lot of things out there that they could be eating that are mostly just vehicles for sugar delivery. Not so for cheese sticks.

National Punch Day – I usually only have punch at parties, but there's no need to wait for one of those to come along. Make some punch to have today and if you make a lot, share with whoever you can find.

National Gibberish Day - This is an odd day that seems to be all about speaking nonsense. I don’t know who created it or why but it is all about making up your own words and you don’t need to worry about whether they make sense or whether anyone understands you.

National School Backpack Awareness Day - Have you lifted or weighed your child’s backpack lately? Sometimes they carry a lot more in those things than they should be carrying for their size, and many times they hang it over one shoulder. Too much of this can create back pain that haunts these kids for the rest of their lives. Make sure your child knows the right way to carry their backpacks and only has in it the things that they really need. We celebrate this on the third Wednesday of September.
