Today we are celebrating:

National Day To Prevent Teen Pregnancy – For the last fourteen years, this has been a day for preventing teens from getting pregnant and becoming parents too early in their lives. I have a couple of teenagers myself, so I'm all for this day.  Teens don’t have a great ability to think ahead and realize the consequences of their actions so you have to explain the risks and consequences to them.  http://thenationalcampaign.org/event/national-day-2014

National Grump Out Day – Celebrated on the first Wednesday of May, this day was created 13 years ago by Janice A. Hathy.  All of you grumpy people out there need to put on your happy faces today. This is a day to stop all the grumpiness, complaining, sourness, and striking out. Shake off the sour mood today, you can go back to your normal grumpy self tomorrow. http://smilemania.com/

National Tourism Day – Once again, the theme for this years’ National Tourism Week is travel effect. Basically the effect that traveling has on you and your family. Since this is an event that is promoting tourism, the effects they talk about are all positive. You know the kind of thing I mean, quality time spent together, new experiences, etc. As a mother of three, I think about all of that, but I also think about the headaches, the entire family crammed into the same small hotel room every day for a week, the effort expended trying to convince the kids that museums can be fun too, and we didn't come all this way and spend all this money to stay in the hotel swimming pool all week long.

Occupational Safety & Health Professionals Day – Celebrated on the Wednesday of North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (which would be this week) since 2006, this is a day to recognize the commitment of occupational safety, health, and environmental professionals to protect people, their property and the environment. These are the people who work hard to identify and remove workplace hazards in all organizations.

School Nurse Day – Celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurses Week which is always from May 6th through May 12th.  School nurses take care of our children's bumps, bruises, cuts, scrapes and illnesses every day. They are vital to the health and wellness of our children in public and private schools. Today is a day to let them know how much we appreciate them.

National Roast Leg Of Lamb Day – Another dinner dilemma solved today.  If you need a recipe, try this one: http://www.food.com/recipe/roast-leg-of-lamb-4873

What would you say if I told you that in order to celebrate all of this today, all you have to do is: Prevent your teen from getting pregnant or causing a pregnancy by keeping him/her with you at all times.  It’s easier to do this if you go on vacation and become tourists.  Help get rid of your teenager’s natural tendency to be grumpy by feeding them roast leg of lamb and encouraging them to become an Occupational Safety & Health Professional or a school nurse. That's not too much to do in one day, is it?
