Clean Up Your Room Day – This
just might be my favorite day so far. Kids! Where are you? Have I
got a day for you!
Military Spouses Day – This
day was originally proclaimed by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 and
celebrated on May 23rd. But later, the US Secretary of
Defense, Caspar Weinberger made it a yearly holiday and changed the
date to the Friday before Mother's Day. This is a day to acknowledge
the support and sacrifices made by spouses of the Armed Forces.
Provider Appreciation Day –
Begun in 1996, this is a day to appreciate your child care provider,
and any one else who spends any amount of time taking care of your
child.
Fintastic Friday: Giving Sharks A
Voice – Celebrated on the second Friday in May, this is a day
to make a difference in the life of a shark. Shark populations are
being depleted and we need to do something about it.

Lupus Day – Lupus is an
autoimmune disease that can affect any organ in the body. It is a
disease for which there is, so far, no cure. Today is about
spreading awareness of the disease so people can be diagnosed earlier
and raising funds for research so better treatments can be developed.
Learn more about it today. http://www.worldlupusday.org/
Windmill Day – In the very old
days, before electricity, windmills were one of the few ways that
energy could be gathered. With the invention of electricity,
windmill power went by the wayside. But today there is a movement
afoot to get more windmills working in more areas as it is a
pollution free, natural and renewable energy source.
To celebrate today, get the children
busy cleaning their rooms, you better clean yours too and set a good
example. Then call up one of your friends who is a military spouse
and thank them for their sacrifices on our behalf. Next, when you
drop off your child at day care or at school, thank the people who
take care of them all day for their dedication to your child. This
afternoon, take your kids to an aquarium that has sharks and show
your kids what they look like in person, then find out what you can
do to help them. Set up a windmill in your back yard to harness the
energy that just blows by your house every day. Hook up your house
and get ready to save some money....after you have finished paying
for the windmill. Finally, sign up to donate some money to research
for Lupus and then call up a good friend and tell him/her about the
symptoms of lupus so you can make sure he/she doesn't have it.
